Located right off of Highway 35 in Middletown is Monmouth County’s newest local pediatric dental and orthodontic office - Surfside Smile Co. This office is changing the perception of dentistry. With a surf chic vibe throughout the office inspired by the owners’ memories in Hawaii, this office boasts a calm but fun environment. The owners, Dr. Kristianne Macaraeg (pediatric dentist) and Dr. JV Kracke (orthodontist), are a husband and wife team. They both received their doctorate of dental medicine and completed their residency programs from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. JV is a Monmouth County native raised in Marlboro and is excited to be back home serving the community!

Surfside Smile Co. celebrated their grand opening on September 15, 2024 and collaborated with many locally- and female- owned businesses. Jess Giovine of The Jess Press created surf-themed invitations for local healthcare professionals. Mav’s Top Buns made Ube Buns (Hawaii inspired) to serve for dessert. Justine of Divine Coffee served fall flavored handcrafted espresso beverages right from her coffee cart. Kira and Krissa of Daybreak Flowers flowered the office with beautiful tropical arrangements complete with miniature pineapples to come full circle with the branding of Surfside Smile Co.! Rocio of Paletas & Co. served guilt-free and delicious popsicles, perfect for the 70’s and sunny weather. Liss from Dash of Pink events blew it out of the water with her wave-inspired balloon backdrop. Tasty salads and sandwiches were catered by The Blonde Shallot of Little Silver. And to tie it all together, Nicole of Photography by Nikki Paige captured all the memories of this remarkable event.

Surfside Smile Co. merchandise was available for purchase along with children’s book “Good Morning Big Apple” by local mother and vet, Lynsey Victoria. Proceeds of the sales were all donated to Loving Lucy’s Fundraiser for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) Cardiac Care & Research.

Lucy is a local heart warrior that was born in April 2023 at The Jersey Shore University Medical Center with 2 heart defects. She underwent major cardiac surgery at CHOP and is doing well! Surfside Smile Co. loves to support local families and their philanthropic efforts, especially those focused on pediatric care. Dr. Kristianne completed her pediatric dental residency at CHOP and knows first-hand all the wonderful things and miracles CHOP does for its patients and families.

Local businesses, healthcare professionals, and current patients were all invited to attend. The event was also open to the public for any families searching for a pediatric dentist or orthodontist to meet the team and tour the office! If you are a first-time parent and have wondered when the right time is to visit the dentist, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) along with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommend that a child have their first dental visit by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth eruption. Early visits help develop good rapport with the dentist and also help decrease the rate of tooth decay! If you have elementary-aged children and are curious about when to bring them to the orthodontist, the American Association of Orthodontists recommend that a child have their first orthodontic screening around age seven to evaluate a child’s growth and the exchange of primary and permanent teeth!
